Arken Optics SH4 6-24x50 Gen II Details

  • The Arken Optics SH4 6-24x50 Gen II riflescope is a high-quality scope that offers great value for money.

  • It has excellent optical performance and features a small center dot reticle that allows for precise aiming at small targets from greater distances.

  • The smooth and tactile clicks surpass even more expensive models on the market today. However, there is room for improvement with the turret as it has 8 MIL per revolution and only markings up to 15 MIL.

  • The turn indicator can be difficult to see when attached to a 20 MOA Picatinny rail.

  • Its lower section protrudes substantially, meaning you need to be extra mindful when selecting a monoblock mount for it.

  • Taking into account all these features and considerations, the Arken Optics SH4 6-24x50 Gen II can be a perfect companion for shooting at mid to long distances.

About the Arken Optics

Arken Optics offers two series of rifle scopes, the SH4 series with the 6-24x50 and 4-16x50 models and the EP5 series with the 5-25x56 model. They strive to provide outstanding scopes at an affordable price, establishing them as a renowned brand in the rifle scope industry.

Physical properties of SH4 6-24x50

The SH4 6-24x50 scope is made of metal and machined for accuracy and durability. It is waterproof and shockproof, has an internal nitrogen purge to prevent fogging in cold temperatures, a 34-millimeter main tube, a 59-millimeter exterior objective diameter, and the magnification ring can be adjusted with a throw lever.

The scope has a larger 34-millimeter main tube compared to other brands' 30 millimeters, making it heavier than the competition.

This riflescope has an FFP reticle that adjusts with magnification and is Christmas tree-style with a small illuminated dot in the center and a 1 MIL range surrounding it. The clicks and reticle measurements are either MIL or MOA depending on which version you choose.

A side turret on the illumination system can be used to adjust the brightness to six intensity levels and completely shut off the illumination by revolving back to zero. The battery for this system is a CR 2032.

The parallax adjustment on the side turret can be adjusted from 20 yards to infinity and is incredibly smooth. Making adjustments beyond 300 meters requires small movements for a perfect adjustment.

The clicks on the SH4 6-24x50 scope's turrets are in 0.1 MIL or 1/4 MOA.

The turret of the SH4 6-24x50 scope has only faint horizontal lines at its base to indicate a turn, and if combined with 20 MOA scope mounts, these lines may be blocked from view.

Zero Stop

The SH4 6-24X50 scope features the AZS zero stop system, a unique setup that enables the turret to stop at zero when adjusted. To adjust this feature, two clicks are made up on the elevation turret and then the vertical screw aligned with one of the horizontal screws towards the eyepiece is unscrewed. The Allen key is then turned counterclockwise a quarter of a turn before being tightened again, fastening the zero-stop feature. I

Optical performance

This scope offers clear, accurate, and crisp images with no blurriness or tunneling. Its 6x magnification has a field of view of 6.96 meters at 100 meters and its highest magnification is 24x with a field of view of 1.74 meters at 100 meters. It also boasts good eye relief and a large eye box for easy mounting on bigger caliber b.

Mounting of the scope

The Arken Optics SH4 6-24x50 scope has a middle section that sits higher from the bottom and is vulnerable during installation. If a monoblock mount is solid on the bottom, its retention spring could hit its base if the scope mount is not set high enough, which should be at least 11 millimeters. It also needs 34-millimeter scope mount rings for installation.

I have the SH4 Gen 2 and rhe SH4J Gen 2. Both are excellent scopes in an affordable price range. The 'J' upends the other because of the Japanese glass.
